Therushjobdonewell.Youhaveaharddeadlineaproductlaunch,atourannouncement,acampaigndateandyoualsoneedittobeexcellent.Thetriangletellsyouexactlywhatthisrequires:moremoney,deployedtobuythethingsspeednormallytakesaway.Morecrew,somultiplethingshappeninparallel.Alargerlocationbudget,soyoucangetapermittedspacesame-week.Abiggerpostteam,soediting,color,andsoundrunconcurrentlyinsteadofsequentially.Thepremiumisn'tarbitrary.It'stheliteralcostofcompressingtimewithoutlosingquality.

Thisisalegitimatechoiceandsometimestherightone.Alabelwillpay1.5xtodeliveramusicvideothedayofreleaseratherthantwoweekslate.Abrandwillpaydoubletoshipacampaignbeforeacompetitor's.Thetriangleisn'ttellingyounottodoit.It'stellingyouwhatitcoststoactuallypullitoff.

Most"iconic"musicvideosandshortfilmsweremadeonthisaxis.Notbecausethedirectorswerebroke,butbecausetheywerepatient.Theconstraintthatproducesthebestcraftisusuallytimeabundance,notmoneyabundance.Youcanfixalmostanythinginpost-productionexceptamissingperformanceandperformancescomefrompreparation,whichcomesfromtime.
